Why we are here
First Baptist Church is an independent Baptist church committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ and the authority of the Bible. We want to love God, care for one another, and make Christ known in our community and beyond.
Our church life brings together Bible preaching, prayer, worship, fellowship, and service. We believe the local church is more than a place to attend: it is a family of believers growing in faith and learning to serve the Lord together.
Our mission
We seek to glorify God by loving Him and our neighbors, strengthening believers through sound doctrine and discipleship, and sharing the gospel here in Steamboat Springs and around the world.
Our foundation
God’s Word is our final authority for faith and practice. We use the King James Bible in our preaching and teaching, and we believe that salvation is God’s gift of grace, received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
Our pastor
Pastor Nyrell D. Melvin began serving as pastor after the church’s vote on August 30, 2026. He and his wife, Joy, have four children. His ministry is shaped by his own testimony of God’s grace and his desire to help others understand and obey Scripture.
